Tesla introduced its first electric Semi truck
Tesla Semi – this is the name of the prototype of the first Tesla electric traction truck. It was unveiled on Thursday at the airfield of the airfield at the KB office in Horton, California.
According to its founder Ilona Mask, addressed to the audience, the presentation of the long-awaited novelty, he intends “to wrest your clear mind from the skull and transfer it to another dimension.” He then explains:
“We just thought: what do people want? They want reliability, the lowest cost and comfort for the driver, so we decided to rethink the concept of the truck. “
As reported by Reuters, Tesla Semi is designed for a run from 320 to 480 km on one charge. The total mileage will be 1.6 million km, which corresponds to 40 “circumnavigations”. Its appearance on the roads can make significant changes in the sphere of freight traffic. In particular, the costs of long-haul transportation and, not least, the environmental burden, will be significantly reduced.
According to statistics, heavy trucks “produce” 20% of all greenhouse gases on the planet, despite the fact that their share among vehicles is only 5%.
