"Sberbank" is preparing to launch a network of ATMs with support for Apple Pay
Sberbank intends to launch a network of ATMs with Apple Pay support in Russia by the end of September. About this AppleInsider.ru learned from the official representatives of the credit institution. Sources familiar with the situation predict that within the first wave the bank will install about 2,000 cars with NFC, systematically increasing their number during the year.
It is reported that only customers of Sberbank with MasterCard cards will be able to initially withdraw or deposit cash from their accounts in a non-contact way. In due course, the bank clarifies, the terminals will learn how to identify the phones of plastic holders of Visa, as well as cards issued by third-party banks and NGOs.
"The launch of NFC technology with support for mobile devices (phones) with a MasterCard attached card is planned for September," says Anna Morozova, a representative of Sberbank. "Customers will be able to be serviced by NFC technology on self-service devices, not only with cards, but also with mobile phones and other devices using the MasterCard card."
Earlier, Alfa-Bank deployed its own ATM network with contactless access via Apple, Android and Samsung Pay in Russia. To identify the client, use the fingerprint and PIN of the card. The "plastic" itself is not needed, and almost all actions are available to the user, except for changing the PIN code.
