Ball CRYSTAL ORB solves the problem of water purification in domestic aquariums
Company PrettyWater Solutions is preparing to bring to market an unusual gadget for fans of aquarium fish. It is called the Crystal Orb and is based on a nanotechnology solution that allows the device to kill algae and microbes in aquariums without the use of chemicals. Details of the technology were not disclosed, but the Crystal Orb nanomaterial received US patent 9574136 B2.
Any aquarium is an artificial bio-environment that requires fine balancing. It constantly multiplies microorganisms, which spoil water and cause disease of fish. To combat them most often used chemical compounds – various salts and synthesized antibiotics. A direct consequence of their use – the aquarium turns into a chemical soup, which when the water is changed is sent to the environment.
Crystal Orb does not have any soluble compounds in its composition. On its surface there is an oxidation reaction, which creates around the device a “sterile zone”. Any single-celled organism that gets into it dies. The flow of water for this is provided by conventional aquarium pumps and filters. To use Crystal Orb, it must be rinsed under running water for 30 seconds, and then placed in an aquarium – preferably next to the filter.
In a standard 50-liter home aquarium Crystal Orb will work six months. During this period, it will act as a water purifier, algaecide, antifungal and antibiotic device. Supplies Crystal Orb will begin in August this year, and its price is $ 35 per device.
